Reach Out
April 16, 2010
It isn’t unusual when people have been going through a season of challenge for more than a few weeks, that they find everyone else goes back to a ‘normal life’ but they are left still trying to cope and make sense of everything. This can lead an individual and a family to feel alone with their struggles.
God never meant for us to go through difficult circumstances alone. We are meant to be the hands and feet of Christ to those who need comfort and support.
Sometimes we don’t know where to begin. And for a lack of an idea we don’t do anything. Today, we would like to challenge you to reach out.
Here are a few ideas:
- • Pick up the phone. Just let the person know you were thinking of them.
- • Make a double batch. Whatever you’re cooking for dinner make a double batch and take it over.
- • Drop them a note. Whether it is an email or card let someone know you are thinking about them. (Take a look at the Dayspring cards inspired by Letters to God.)
- • Show up with your rake or lawn mower. At this time of the year keeping up with the yard can be overwhelming.
- • Pick someone up and take them out to lunch or maybe a movie.
- • Offer to babysit.
We know there are hundreds of ideas. Tell us how someone reached out to you during a difficult time in your life.
