Remembering

May 03, 2010

TylerPeople often tell us that Letters to God reminded them of someone they loved, a child, a mother, a grandfather, someone who like Tyler battled cancer with God’s grace and love.  Remembering may bring afresh our loss and grief, but it also brings back memories of valiant warriors and dear souls.

God gives us a wonderful gift that within tragedy He brings goodness and beauty.  We are grateful to people like Patrick Doughite, Tyler’s Dad, for choosing to remember Tyler in a way that reminds  us of God’s hope, love and redemption.  We are grateful for families who share what they have learned, and work to bring hope to others by starting organizations like TeamConnor and Hannah’s Hope Ministries.

There are many ways that families redeemed their grief and sadness.  Some of you have shared the unique and creative ways you honor and remember those you love.

  • Walk to raise awareness and monies for research and care
  • Write a book to help others in their journey
  • Plant a tree as a symbol of love
  • Gather yearly with family and friends to share stories and celebrate a life well lived.

We would love to hear more stories.  How do you remember?  How have you taken your loss and grief  and repurposed it to bring hope to others?
